Materials List

A quick description of the materials I used and how I used them.

Polymer Clay

To make my first figure sculpture. I used polymer clay because you can bake it in the oven and it'll be durable to make a mold of. Polymer clay in large amounts is expensive so I made the inside of aluminum tin foil and then wrapped it in polymer clay.

Plaster of Paris

I needed cheap but durable material that was easily acquired here in my town. It took a while to figure out the right ratio and cure time. Found out by watching YouTube videos that plaster cures faster when you use boiling water. Then you wait at least 5 min before pouring it into the mold. Tap and disturb the mold to bring the bubbles up.

All Purpose 100% Clear Silicone

I used the silicone to make a mold of my first figure sculpture. I poured three tubes into a soapy water mixture to work it enough that it didn't stick to my hands and pushed it into a 7-11 cup to then push the figure into the mold. Allowed the cure time of 30 min and then cut it into three pieces.

Acrylic Paint

When the plaster figure copies were completely dry, I painted them with red acrylic paint.

Elmers Glue

IUsed the glue to make the outside extra durable. and to glue on the information to the backs of the figures.
